Microsoft "chooses Foxconn to make own-brand Windows Phone 8 handset"

Mock-up
Taiwan tech news website, DigiTimes, is reporting that giant electrical manufacturer Foxconn has been chosen to make a Microsoft-branded smartphone running the Windows Phone 8 operating system.

It's been reported for several months that Redmond is planning to start producing its own hardware and it's presumed it will join its new own-brand tablet and be called The Surface Phone.

Foxconn, with factories in China and other countries around the world, manufactures hardware for several big-name brands, notably Apple and Sony.

Microsoft is still refusing to comment on plans for a Surface phone.
