Notifications app withdrawn from Windows Phone Store

A glaring missing feature in Windows Phone is a notification centre. You know, an easy-to-go-to place where you get a list of all your recent notifications from Facebook, Twitter, email etc.

All WP provides is a tiny banner at the top of the screen that disappears after a couple of seconds.

So there was much joy when developer, Windows Phone Hacker announced a new app in the official Windows Phone Store that provides a simple notification centre.

Notifications is expensive - $2.99 - and the user also needs to download an app to a PC, connect the phone and sync through Zune.  Oh yes, it doesn't work with WP8 devices.

But the app has now been pulled from the store. It looks like there may be a problem with the developer's servers.

Here's Notifications in the Windows Phone Store so you can keep an eye open for its return.

Microsoft has admitted it simply ran out of time to include a notification centre in WP8, so perhaps it will come with an update fairly soon.
