HTC 8X owners....stand by your beds: T-Mobile customers in the US are to get the Portico update for Windows Phone 8 on the HTC 8X starting Wednesday.
Earlier this week, the update was pushed out to unlocked HTC 8X owners worldwide, in what was seen a a test of Microsofts new over-the-air updating process.
It brings a choice of having always-on WiFi, the ability to mass select text messages for deletion, and a feature to retject a call with a predefined text message ( as long as the call is from a mobile number in the device's contacts list).
T-Mobile has even been good enough to send out emails to customers warning of the update.
It was learned yesterday that the WP7.8 update seen in the wild was, in fact, being directed at pre-production phones only. So the proper WP7.8 update for all will still start to go out on schedule in "early 2013".
