App released to sync Google Contacts with Windows Phone 8 as Google pulls plug

With G-Day approaching - the day Google stops automatic contacts and calendar syncing with Windows Phones - a developer has come to the rescue.

Google is due to pull the plug on January 31 and so far there's been no solution from Microsoft for users who want to stay with Google calendar and contacts.

Now app developer Rudy Huyn has come up with GContacts for Windows Phone 8, which will keep your Google contacts synced with People on your WP8 phone.

There's a free version, with manual sync, and a premium version, which costs $1.29 and includes auto-sync and more sync info.

Get the details from the Windows Phone Store.

Huyn says he may release a similar app to sync Google calendar if demand is high enough.
