Lumia 620 could become the winning Nokia WP8 smartphone

Nokia's entry-level phone in its WP8 range - the Lumia 620 - is due to hit the UK next week and it seems quite a bargain.

It's being priced at anywhere between £200 and £230 SIM-free...and the 3 network will be selling it for £199.99 from early February, according to the Argos ad above.

Next up in the Nokia WP8 range is the Lumia 820, which goes for about £350.

We think the 620 will be a winner.

It comes with full WP8 features, including the excellent Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive.

The camera is 5MP (8MP on the 820) and it has a front camera for Skyping.

It also has generous memory (the same as the 820) of 8GB internal storage with the option to add a microSD card up to 64GB.

The screen of the 620 isn't quite as good as the 820 and the processor is less powerful, but we don't think most people will notice a huge difference.

And, like the 820, it has changeable - and colourful - back covers, although it lacks the 820's wireless charging function.

But at £200 it should hit the right spot.

Update...statement from Nokia:

"We are delighted to announce that from February 2013 the highly anticipated Nokia Lumia 620, Nokia's new, cost effective Windows Phone 8 device, will be available from Vodafone, O2, Three UK, Virgin Mobile, Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U and via Micro-P into independent retail channels. The Lumia 620 represents one of the best value Windows Phone 8 devices on the market."
