New iPhone jailbreak just around the corner

There must be many Windows Phone users who've got an iPhone stashed away in a drawer overshadowed by the Live Tile goodness of Microsoft.

Surely there must be some? Not just me?

Well, there could be some life left in the old iOS dog yet.

It looks like an untethered jailbreak for the next iOS update (6.1) is ready and raring to be released.

Hackers have let it be known - ie Tweeted it - that they have at least one exploit that works on the current software and will almost certainly work on iOS6.1. They're now waiting for the new iOS to be released so Apple can't plug the exploit holes first.

Cupertino has just delivered iOS6.1 Beta 5 to developers for testing. Usually, a version called Gold Master is produced just before public release. And people who know say Beta 5 looks remarkably like a public release.

So it looks like Apple servers could start pumping out 6.1 worldwide fairly soon.

We then expect a jailbreak to be released within hours days.

So, get that iPhone charged up...you might just want to see what jailbreak fun is like again.
