Update: major bugs as Instagraph launches on Windows Phone 8 to take on Instagram

Instagram has become a pretty iconic app for Windows Phone. And all because you still can't get it.

There is still no Instagram photo sharing app on WP - despite it being hugely - and we mean h u g e l y - popular on Android and iOS.

But here's a very second-run: a developer has come up with an app called Instagraph that lets users of Windows Phone 8 - only 8, although 7 will hopefully be added - to upload photos to their Instagram accounts.

There are a few hurdles first.

You must have an existing Instagram account because you can't create one on with the app...the app costs £1.49/$2.49 with no free trial...at the moment it only allows you to upload three photos a day to your Instagram account...and you can't view your account photos - or see and add comments - so you'll have to use another WP app to do that like WPGram.

The Windows Phone Central website says the filters and the quality of the uploaded photos is good and the upload limit will be increased.

So, if you really think it's worth shelling out money for these limited Instagraph features, here's the link.

We should add that Instagram has been promising an official Windows Phone app for ages. And ages.

You could wait for that. But you may be waiting a long long long time.

About time Instagram and Microsoft got their act together, really.

Update: It seems Instagraph is having serious problems, including posting users' photos to other people's accounts, according to WMPoweruser.

"...the most serious issue is probably uploading other people’s pictures into a user’s Instagram feed, something which could range from a mere annoyance to very embarrassing, given the nature of some Instagram pictures. The issue stems from the service retaining your user name and password on their cloud service and due to pictures having to queue to upload".
