Nokia Lumia Amber software update for Windows Phone "to be released in August"

It looks like the next major-ish software update for Nokia Lumia smartphones will be coming in August, according to a Tweet from Nokia Spain:

Must admit, we were expecting it in July but what's a month between huge corporations and their customers!

It's thought the update will be a double whammy: there'll be the GDR2 Windows Phone 8 operating system update from Microsoft, which will bring things like FM radio and (hope against hope) a proper fix for the WP8 "Other" storage problem.

And coupled with that will be Nokia's "Amber" firmware update for Lumias, which will include a new lockscreen with a clock and tap-to-unlock function as well as improved camera software.

It's expected Nokia will send out the updates in one over-the-air bundle.

Of course, the BIG update for Windows Phone...WP8.1...is expected from Microsoft later this year when we may get a proper notification system and universal search.
