Joe Belfiore says Windows Phone 8 "other" storage bug is fixed with GDR2 update

It's a tweet many Windows Phone 8 users have been longing for. WP boss Joe Belfiore says the GDR2 OS update now being rolled out will solve the dreaded ever-increasing "other" storage bug.

Well, he says the update has fixed it on the new Nokia Lumia 1020, which is shipping with the new software. We presume GDR2 will also fix it on other devices when they eventually get it.

Ever since WP8 was released last year, users have been complaining that the "other" section of devices' in-built storage just gets bigger and bigger until phones stop functioning because of lack of storage space.

So far, the only real solution has been to hard reset.

The Nokia Lumia 925 is also shipping with the update...so it will be interesting to hear if the so-called solution is working.

GDR2 has started being released to some factory-unlocked HTCs and Samsungs. It's thought the rollout to all devices could take several weeks as it has to be approved and tested by other manufacturers and network operators.
