Nokia Lumia 1520: The leaks, the specs, the design...

It will be big. It will be powerful. And it will have more tiles.

On Tuesday, October 22, Nokia will unveil the latest addition to its Lumia series of WP8 devices.

And the Lumia 1520 will be its first phablet, a phone that's knocking on the size of a tablet.

Here's what it's likely to be, following a flood of leaks.

It'll be big and powerful. The screen will be six inches, that's Galaxy Note 3 size and will raise eyebrows when stuck against an ear.

It's expected to be powered by 2GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. Internal memory will come in two variants - 32GB and 64GB - and apparently it will have microSD card expansion as well. And add to that 4G capability.

The camera looks like being a 20MP PureView with a Carl Zeiss lens as well as a beefy front-facer.

All this will be backed up by a huge 3,400mAh battery that should easily see it through a day of fairly heavy use.

It's certain to come with Microsoft's latest Update 3 (the update formerly known as GDR3) for WP8 which will give it six rows of Startscreen tiles. And it will come in the trademark Lumia colours - black, white, yellow and possibly red and cyan.

But it won't come cheap. You can expect to pay up to £700 off the shelf and carrier-free.

The success of the Samsung Galaxy Note range of phablets took the mobile world by surprise. It seems a lot of people want their smartphones big and tablet-like. And Nokia should stand a good chance of getting a slice of the growing market.
