Nokia unveils Lumia 525 with December release



The biggest-selling Windows Phone device so far is the budget Nokia Lumia 520 and Nokia has now confirmed its successor.

The Lumia 525 gets a significant specs bump and will go on sale in mid-December probably for less than £200.

Smartphone manufacturers in general are finding their biggest expansion in sales is coming from budget to mid-priced handsets.

Customers are getting fed up paying £600+ and are demanding better specs and for less money.

And manufacturers that can come up with the formula are winning big sales as has been shown by Google's Nexus phones, Nokia's low-end Lumias and the just-released (and excellent) Motorola Moto G Android handset.

Nokia now hopes to continue that trend with the Lumia 525:

  • Dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon S4 processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8GB of on board memory (supports expandable memory with MicroSD cards up to 64GB)

  • 5 MP camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Wi-Fi WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g/n
  • 1430 mAh battery with a standby time for 14 days
  • Data networks – WCDMA (900 MHz, 2100 MHz), GSM (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz)
  • 119.9 mm x 64 mm x 9.9 mm
