Nokia Lumias only check for OS/firmware updates once a week

Nokia is now rolling out its Black firmware update for Lumia phones worldwide. It comes bundled with Microsoft's Update 3 for the Windows Phone operating system.

But don't rely on your phone checking automatically for the update if you're in a hurry to get the Glance-Screen notifications goodness. Lumias only check automatically once a week.

Here's part of the update instructions from Nokia's Black update webpages:

Your Nokia Lumia smartphone automatically checks for updates every week, and will notify you when it finds one. Otherwise, you can go to Settings -> Phone update and check for yourself. If Lumia Black is ready for your phone, you’ll be able to download and install it straight from that screen.
