BBM to launch on Windows Phone next week

BlackBerry Messenger is to officially launch on Windows Phone next week.

It joins the increasingly popular multi-platform app on iOS, Android and, of course, BlackBerry.

The Canadian company has a somewhat surprising hit on its hands since deciding to free the messaging platform from the confines of BlackBerry. Quite how it will make money out of it is another question. Will there be ads? Who knows.

Well, one person who probably does is Matthew Talbot, BB Senior Vice President, Emerging Solutions (solutions to what? Imminent bankruptcy, presumably).

He's the one who's revealed that the official launch on WP will be next week. It follows a beta testing phase, which, he says, accepted 10,000 tester sign-ups in 24-hours.
