Carphone Warehouse cuts price of Nokia Lumia 930 to £419.95

Well, it hasn't taken long for the price cutting to start. Carphone Warehouse has dropped the cost of a simfree Nokia Lumia 930 from around £470 to £419.95.

OK, the retailer's original price was somewhat inflated but the new price undercuts its main rival, Phones4u, by £20. And the phone was only released two days ago.

It appears to be a web-only offer even though the webpage lets you click-and-collect from a store.

Phones4u has the exclusive on the white version of the new flaship device, but it doesn't have the green one. CPW has black, orange and green.

Still cheapest of all is EE, where the phone is £350 on prepay, but is locked to the network and it's still fairly expensive (£30-ish) to get an unlock code.

You'll notice from this screengrab from the Carphone Warehouse site, that it specifically says the £130 "free" wireless bundle of speaker, charger and apps, is only for Pay Monthly customers.

This just adds to the confusion surrounding this offer, with Microsoft (as far as we understand it) and some other retailers saying it's for prepay and simfree buyers as well.

It's now saying "Sorry there are no more wireless kits available. We hope you enjoy your Nokia Lumia 930 and wireless charger."

Yet nowhere does it say "while stocks last". Feels like a real con and miss-sell.
