Long-awaited Lock Screen App for WP8.1 hits snags, but nearly in beta

It was back in May that Microsoft showed off a planned lockscreen app and got everyone very excited.

The app is being worked on by Redmond and developer Rudy Huyn (6snap, 6tag Wikipedia etc) and lets users customise their homescreen.

But since May....silence.

Until now.

Yes, Windows Phone software boss Joe Belfiore has taken to Twitter to...err...well, not say very much.

He's sorry for being quiet...the beta version of the app is ALMOST here...and it will - initially anyway - only be for devices with 1GB or more of RAM...and only in English.

Oh...and there've been snags and a new feature has been added. But what new feature, he doesn't say.

So we're not really much the wiser.
