Nokia drops support for Storage Check Beta but leaves it in Store to move Maps to storage card

Nokia has been maintaining a very useful app called Nokia Storage Check beta. But today it announced support is ending.

But...rejoice...the app will be left in the Windows Phone Store because it includes the facility to choose where Maps are stored and to move Maps from your precious Lumia internal storage to a microSD card.

Support is ending because the new Windows Phone 8.1/Cyan update includes a setting called Storage Sense, which fulfils most of the functions of Storage Check Beta and also adds some - like moving apps to storage cards.

BUT...it does not include the ability to choose to save Maps to a card or to move Maps from the Lumia internal storage to a card.

And Maps can eat up storage space.

So Microsoft has decided to leave the beta app in the store.  Why it didn't include the Map-moving facility in Storage Sense is a mystery. Perhaps it will be included in an update.

But you won't be able to search the store for Nokia Storage Check Beta. So save this link to the beta app in the store:
