Microsoft Build developers conference April 29-May 1, 2015

Microsoft has confirmed its next annual Build developers conference will be in San Francisco from April 29-May 1, 2015.

And this will be a pretty important one.

We're expecting to hear much more about the company plans to bring its tablet, laptop, desktop and mobile phone operating systems under one name - Windows 10.

The software giant wants developers to produce apps that will work on all hardware platforms.

For the consumer, it means if you buy an app from the Windows Phone Store, you should also get access to the PC and tablet versions.

Build is where Windows software developers can get together and hear details of the company's plans.

It's not cheap. Admission this year was more than $2,000, but Microsoft is renowned for its gifts for developers - this year each got an Xbox One and a $500 Microsoft Store gift card.

The cost of next year's isn't known and registration isn't open yet.
