American tech writer Mary Jo Foley says she expects Microsoft to release a preview version of its highly-anticipated Windows 10 OS for smartphones soon after January 21.

That's when Redmond will detail its plans for the Windows 10 unified OS.

We've already reported that Microsoft has released a Phone Insider app which is expected to deliver the Windows 10 Preview to WP phones.

Things have been a bit stagnant and stale in the world of Windows smartphones for a few months but it looks like that is all about to change.

The sooner the better.
