Mary Jo says don't expect Windows 10 preview for smartphones until February

Microsoft will reveal its plans for Windows 10 at a media event in Redmond on Wednesday, January 21.

And it's already released a Windows Insider app for Windows phones that will let users download a preview edition of the new Windows 10 operating system for phones and tablets.

We were hoping Microsoft would also release the preview OS to co-incide with the media event.

But the tech-journo-who-usually-knows, Mary Jo Foley, now says her sources say it won't be released until February:
Microsoft officials declined to comment on the availability date. But I'm confident the February timing is solid, based on my knowledge of the track record of my sources. I don't know whether Microsoft also will time the release of the next technical preview build of Windows 10 for desktops so that it coincides with the mobile version in February.
We hope she's wrong. But she is usually right. So it means the waiting could go on a little longer.
