Microsoft releases mystery new Phone Insider app. Might be Preview for Developers for Windows 10



Microsoft has quietly released an app called Phone Insider in the Windows Phone Store.

It says it's for people registered as Windows Insiders to get preview releases of Operating system updates.


It seems likely this is the app that will let registered users download preview beta releases of the upcoming Windows 10 OS for phones...much the same as the Preview for Developers app currently used to distribute preview releases of Windows Phone 8.1.

The new app even has the same icon design.

While there's no way to enter your details in the current app, that could quickly change with an update.

Microsoft is expected to announce later this month - January 21 to be precise - its plans for Windows 10, which will bring the same basic operating system to tablets, phones, wearables, laptops and desktops.

There'll be one app store with unified applications straddling different devices.
