Microsoft releases Windows 10 Preview for tablets, laptops and desktops...phone version "on schedule for February"

Microsoft has been true to its word and has released the latest "touch-friendly" Windows 10 Technical Preview to users signed up to the Windows Insider programme.

This beta version of Windows 10 is designed for tablets of 8" and above, along with laptops and desktops.

Redmond says the smartphone-friendly version of the OS will be released in February.

We've installed the new update on a tablet and laptop with no problems, but be aware that there may be no going back to your old OS and, because it's beta, it may have glitches, clunks, crashes and suchlike.

We've encountered no problems and find it smooth and - apparently - in full working order.

To get it...as well as the smartphone version when it's released...you'll have to sign up for the Windows Insider programme here.

The full public release of Windows 10 for all devices will be later this year and it will be a free upgrade.
