Windows 10 for Phone Preview is out...but only for some phones in some regions and be warned it's very beta and very rough with lots of missing features

Well, it's been released but only for some phones and only for some phones in some regions. Microsoft says the roll-out of this Technical Preview will be widened with time.

We would strongly advice you NOT to update to the Technical Preview, unless it's on a phone you don't rely on using and can afford to play around with.

This initial build is VERY rough with lots of problems and glitches.

Here's what Microsoft says:

Technical Preview is for serious Windows Phone aficionados and tech experts. So if you think S/MIME has something to do with trying to escape an invisible box, you might want to stick with Windows Phone 8.1 for now.
Follow these steps to download Technical Preview:
  • Sign up for the Windows Insider Program, if you haven't already.
  • Find out if Technical Preview is right for you, and make sure your phone is on the list of supported phones. Prerelease software doesn't always work as expected, and could cause your phone to stop working permanently.
  • Open this webpage from your phone, and then click Download the Windows Insider app. You can also search for the Windows Insider app in the Store from your phone.
  • Once it finishes downloading, open the Windows Insider app on your phone and follow the instructions to install Technical Preview.
