Microsoft Lumia 640 XL phablet goes on sale in UK for £219

Microsoft's latest mid-range Windows Phone phablet - the Lumia 640 XL - is now on sale in the UK at the Microsoft online store for £219.

The 640 XL with its 5.7" LCD display, is the successor to the old Lumia 1320 and it boasts some pretty powerful specs.
Key Features: 5.7-inch 720p HD IPS LCD screen; 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400; 8MP main camera; 5MP wideangle front-facing camera; Large removable 3,000mAh battery; microSD memory expansion up to 128GB; Microsoft Office preinstalled; Upgradable to Windows 10
It's worth mentioning that as well as no Nokia branding on this phone, there's also no Lumia logo. It seems Redmond it heading towards smartphones simply branded Microsoft.

It also seems Microsoft has decided that a 5.7" display is big enough for a phablet and it certainly makes this device more hand-friendly than the 1320 with its 6" screen.

There are quite a few variants of this device appearing around the world...some with dual SIM slots and some without 4G LTE. This official UK model has a single SIM slot and does have 4G. It comes in black, white, orange or cyan.

It's also bundled with free one-year's subscription to Microsoft Office 365 suite of productivity apps as well as 30GB of OneDrive cloud storage.

Wireless charging is missing from the 640 XL, but we understand Microsoft is planning replacement back covers that include the feature.
