Microsoft releases app to backup contacts and messages to SD card.

Microsoft has released a Windows Phone 8.1 app called Contacts+Messages backup.

And, quite simply, that's what it does. It will install into the phone's settings menu and will let you make a backup of all contacts and messages - SMS and MMS - to the device's microSD card.

So, it doesn't support phones without SD cards.
