The UK national newspaper, The Sunday Times, has released its first iPad edition.
It includes all 12 sections of the News Corp publication, including three magazines and an interactive TV guide.
The paper promised a multi-media experience and it has delivered: the iPad edition has photo sideshows and video embedded. And navigation by swiping or tapping is very intuitive.
Downloading each section takes a bit of time, and you can only download one at a time, but they are stored ready of off-line browsing.
More after the jump...
The app is free to download from the Apple App Store and each edition will cost a one-off payment of £1.79 compared with the print edition's £2.20 cost.
But, if you're prepared to set up a subscription, you can get a month's supply of the paper, along with its daily stable-mate, The Times, for £1 for the first month and £2 a week from then on. You sign up in-app to a Direct Debit, but it includes all editions of the Sunday and daily titles. And you can cancel at any time.
The subscription also gives you access to The Times' and Sunday Times' websites which are now behind paywalls.
Both titles are owned by News Corp and it's known that boss Rupert Murdoch loves the iPad and sees it as the way forward as print circulation continues declining.
