Apple "Signing Up Record Labels" For iTunes Cloud Music Storage

The Wall Street Journal says Apple is actively signing up record labels ready for the launch of an iTunes cloud-based music locker service.

This contradicts reports yesterday that Cupertino is planning to launch the service without any signed deals.

The service will allow users to store music on Apple servers and access it anywhere there's an internet connection. The WSJ says Apple has already done deals with two of the four big record labels and talks with the remaining will continue tomorrow in New York.

It's thought Apple is poised to launch the service ahead of similar plans by Google.  Amazon switched on its music-locker service earlier this month in the US.
