Nokia Lumia 800 Only On Contract At Launch In UK

If you're chomping at the bit to get your hands on a SIM-free Nokia Lumia 800, it looks like you'll have to wait until January.

The official release date of the Windows Phone Mango device is November 16, but it seems that will be only on contract and only at a limited number of outlets.

The Clove Technology website, which specialises in SIM-free mobile devices has informed customers that non-contract devices won't be released until next year:
We are contacting you this afternoon regarding the release date of the Nokia Lumia 800. Unfortunately we have now heard that the Nokia Lumia 800 UK SIM-free stock will not be available to us until January 2012.

This is very frustrating as we were expecting the Lumia to be released much sooner, but will now have to wait until the new year. We are aware that the Lumia will still be launched in the UK this month, but will only be available with a contract from selected stores.
Microsoft is hoping the new Nokia device will kick start uptake of its Windows Phone operating system.
