Samsung has unveiled its next-generation Galaxy smartphone, which it's hoping will eclipse the iPhone 5 and throw BlackBerry and Windows Phone into the dustbowl of oblivion.
With the Android-powered Galaxy S4, Samsung is banking on finally dominating the smartphone market, something that it got very close to with its S3 predecessor.
The new phone looks fairly unchanged even though it's thinner, lighter and has an improved screen-resolution also, but there are significant software developments under the hood.
Probably the most eye-catching is a method of controlling the screen by tipping the phone...and the user's face as well as hand gestures...to scroll up and down.

We predict the Galaxy S4 will finally give Samsung the edge over Apple.
It looks like Cupertino, post Steve Jobs, is hellbent on diversifying and releasing an iPhone Mini, something Samsung already has with the Galaxy range.
At the moment, Apple is a few - decreasing - percentage points ahead of Samsung in the ever-expanding worldwide smartphone market. While Apple adapts to life-after-Steve-Jobs and tries to cover all bases, Samsung looks certain to continue capturing the Think Different market with its already-established range of maxi-and-mini smartphones as well as maxi-and-mini tablets.
*Quite where it leaves the new kid on the block, Windows Phone, depends on how quickly Microsoft can stick with its promise of regular and significant OS updates.
