Blackberry BlackPod "Released in November"

Bloomberg is reporting that RIM will launch a Blackberry tablet device later this year, possibly November.

It's thought the decide will have a 9.7 in ch screen - similar to the iPad - and will include WiFi and Bluetooth.  It's being dubbed the BlackPad, a name RIM has registered.

RIM is racing to bring out a product in this lucrative market and it wants one released before Christmas. There are many tablets being planned by other manufacturers, but it looks like most will be out next year.

Companies have seen the runaway success of the iPad and want to get a share of the market before it's sewn up by Apple.

Rim have also organised an "event" in New York on August 3 where it's thought the new Blackberry 8900 will be unveiled. This is the device RIM hope will become (yawn) an iPhone 4 killer. It will have a slideout keyboard and RIM are trying to get it out quickly to cash in on the bad press over the iPhone 4 antennagate signal problem.
