TiVo + Apple = Now This Could Be Interesting

TiVo is big in The States. It's a fantastic hard-disc TV recorder with a great Electronic Programme Guide and lots of bells and whistles.

It used to be fairly big in the UK. But it was pushed out of the market by the Sky+ box and retreated to North America.

Apple has made it clear it wants to relaunch its Apple TV box, which has never really taken off and has been seen as a Cupertino hobby.

Now, rumours are surfacing that Apple could be talking to TiVo about some kind of a joint venture. This could be the new Apple TV.

A respected financial news website in The States, Barron's, is reporting that TiVo stock has jumped about 5pc on rumours that TiVo technology could be included in the new Apple box.

Nothing is confirmed, but the two together could make quite a TV machine. And TV streaming/recording seems an obvious untapped market for Apple to get into.
