Steve Jobs Lays Into iPad Rivals As Dead On Arrival

Apple boss Steve Jobs has laid into his rivals, after the company announced record profits.

He said iPad rivals have decided to go for smaller 7" screen devices which will be too small to be successful. Three inches, he said, means a 55% smaller screen, because the measurement is diagonal. They will be "dead on arrival".

He said rival manufacturers should give away sandpaper with their devices so users can sand down their fingers!

According to Jobs, the 10" iPad is the smallest screen that's viable for a tablet:

“The reason we’re not making a 7″ inch tablet, is because we think it’s too small to express the software.”

In what's seen as his strongest attack ever on the opposition, he also accused Google's rival Android app store of being "a mess for users and developers".

And RIM's Blackberrys came in for Jobs-slagging-off as well, with Apple iPhone sales now soaring ahead. RIM, he said, has lost ground and won't make it up in the foreseeable future.
