Mark it in your diaries: Friday, November 26.
Apple has started advertising its Black Friday sale.
Must admit, Black Friday doesn't mean much to us outside the United States, where it's the day after Thanksgiving and a traditional "sales" day. It's seen as the start of the Christmas shopping season.
But Apple is planning a worldwide sale in its stores and on-line.
I wouldn't get your hopes up too high though. Last year, it did the same and there weren't many bargains around at all. But you never know...a MacBook Air at 50% off...dream...on.
Oh...and why is it called Black Friday? Apparently, it's because many stores trade at a loss (red) for most of the year and only start to make money (black) in the run-up to Christmas. So, the "sales" day after Thanksgiving became known as Black Friday, because most stores started trading at a profit.
OK! If you've got a better theory, let me know.
