iPad Forces Death Of The Netbook

Netbook computer manufacturers are preparing to cut the prices of their products or discontinue them completely.

DigiTimes in Taiwan, which usually get these kind of things right, says one of the biggest netbook makers, MSI, is preparing to drop netbooks altogether as consumers turn their attention to tablet machines.

Netbooks are intended to be easily portable and good for simple web-surfing and office tasks, and email - things tablets do better as has been proved by sales of the iPad.

It seems laptop manufacturers will now concentrate on larger machines that can be desktop substitutes.

But, if you're in the market for a netbook, prices should start dropping fairly dramatically as companies get rid of stocks and launch their own tablets.
