PalmPad iPad-Rival "Revealed"

FoxNews.com says it's got an exclusive leak on the upcoming iPad-rival, the PalmPad tablet.

It's published spec sheets of the device, which it's thought will be officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.

It seems the PalmPad, manufactured by HP, will come in three varieties, with only minor variations in the hardware spec.  They'll all have a 9.7" screen - the same as the iPad - but will be thinner than the Apple device.

All will run on an updated version of the webOS operating system, originally used to power the Palm Pre smartphone, and there'll be front and rear cameras for video-calling and photo-taking, and a USB port.

It's thought at least one of the models will operate on the 4G superfast mobile network and all will have WiFi.

There'll also be a smaller "Student Edition" of the device, it's claimed.
