Untethered Jailbreak In Time For Christmas...Maybe...Maybe Not

The iPhone Dev Team have been teasing us with vague promises that a full, untethered jailbreak for all devices, including the iPhone 4 and the iPad, may be released by Christmas.

Many people have been hoping for an iPresent on Christmas eve to free us from the shackles of the Apple App Store and give us the goodness of the Cydia App Store.

But it looks like it may not happen. The hacker behind the jailbreak, comex, has tweeted:

At the moment, you can jailbreak all devices with Redsn0w, but it leaves newer ones, like the iPhone 4 and the iPad, tethered. That means you may have to connect them to your computer and re-run Redsn0w each time you reboot your iDevice.

Let's hope those Christmas reindeer get a sudden speed boost.
