Microsoft WP7 Ships Two Million Smartphones In Ten Weeks

Microsoft says two-million smartphones with its Windows Phone 7 operating system have shipped in the ten weeks since its launch.

These figures are for the number of devices shipped. Not the number actually sold to customers.

It's quite difficult to read much into this. It's a brand new operating system, although it has several handset manufacturers on board.

When the Apple iPhone was launched last year, it sold 1.7-million devices in three days.

But when the first iPhone was released in 2007, it took two-and-a-half months to sell one-million.

So, the jury's still out on the success of WP7....but it's not looking good.
