Zite iPad App Told To Cease-And-Desist By Publishers

The Zite magazine-style newsreader iPad app has angered publishers.

The app was released earlier this month and billed as a newsreader that learns what your like.

Now, TUAW is reporting that big publishers, including Time Inc, Dow Jones and The Washington Post, have sent the app developers a cease-and-desist letter.

 The letter goes on to say that Zite, "by systematically reformatting, republishing and redistributing our original content on a mass commercial scale without our permission in your iPad application, Zite directly and adversely impacts our businesses."

It seems the publishers want direct links to their original content from within the app.
