It's reported the US Army is poised to choose Android over iOS to power a new battlefront smartphone.
The device would be issued to troops for secure communication and tracking other army units.
Wired magazine is reporting the device is now undergoing testing:
It was rumoured that Apple was working with the US Army to develop an iOS-based device.The Army is exploring a rank of tasks for the device, including mapping, a "Force Tracker" that keeps track of friendly units and "critical messaging" for exchanging medical requests and on the ground reporting.
