US Army "Poised To Choose Android For Battlefront Smartphone"

It's reported the US Army is poised to choose Android over iOS to power a new battlefront smartphone.

The device would be issued to troops for secure communication and tracking other army units.

Wired magazine is reporting the device is now undergoing testing:
The Army is exploring a rank of tasks for the device, including mapping, a "Force Tracker" that keeps track of friendly units and "critical messaging" for exchanging medical requests and on the ground reporting.
It was rumoured that Apple was working with the US Army to develop an iOS-based device.
