Google is expected to unveil its mobile wallet plans for Android smartphones at a media event in New York on Thursday.
The search giant will spell out how it plans to allow users to pay for goods and services by waving their phone over a terminal
It's thought trials will be announced for New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington and Chicago. Devices will use Near Field Communications to link with Google to verify payments.
Apple is also expected to announce similar plans later this year.
