Great Firewall Of China Architect "Pelted With Shoes"

We know internet users in China are getting increasingly angry with government-imposed surfing restrictions and now there are reports that the creator of the Great Firewall of China has been pelted with an egg and shoes.

China has one of the most stringent internet censorship policies in the world, which includes blocking social networking sites like Twitter and Google, although Chinese users are constantly finding ways around the blocks.

The Guardian says it's claimed the demonstration against "Father of the Firewall" Fang Binxing happened at a university where Fang was giving a speech.

A Twitter user - claiming the to be the protester - said he threw an egg and two shoes:
The claims were cheered by many internet users, in a reflection of growing anger among them about increasingly stringent controls. Admirers showered the anonymous young man with flippant promises of everything from Nike trainers to replace his lost footwear, to iPads, sex and jobs.
