Samsung Boss: "We Did Not Copy Apple Products"

The head of Samsung's Mobile Division has categorically denied the company copied Apple's iPhone and iPad designs.

Apple has started legal action accusing Samsung of copying "the look and feel" of the Apple products with its Galaxy smartphones and tablet.

Samsung's J.K.Shin is quoted in the Wall Street Journal:
"We didn’t copy Apple’s design,” Mr. Shin said. “We have used many similar designs over the past years and it [Apple's allegation] will not be legally problematic.” He suggested the scale of the lawsuit could grow, though he didn’t provide more details.
A judge has ruled that Apple's lawyers have the right to see Samsung's yet-to-be-released devices and, in retaliation, Samsung has applied to the court to get to see Apple's next generation iPhone and iPad.

Among all this legal to-ing and fro-ing, it's worth remembering that Apple is Samsung's biggest customer for touchscreens: it's Samsung screens that are mostly used for the iPad 2.
