Google Tries Again To Rival Facebook...This Time With Google+

Remember Google Buzz? No...not many people do.

It was Google's stab at social networking to take on the giant Facebook and it failed.

Well, Google's having another go. This time with Google+.

It seems it works much like Facebook...you have your "friends", but you can categorise them into "circles". For example, you're parents and other relatives could be in one "circle" and your friends in another and your work colleagues in yet another.

With Facebook, your status messages go to all your "friends".  Google is hoping that its certain-messages-for-certain-circles will add a new dimension to social networking. There are other features like "Sparks" and "Hangouts".

But it's playing it carefully and slowly. Google+ has been launched as a "field-trial" for invited users and only in the US. Google hasn't said when it plans an international roll-out.

You can read all about it at the Google Blog (and watch some pretty corny promo videos).
