Tablet Makers "Set To Cut Prices" In Face Of iPad Dominance

They've tried and they've failed. Now they're giving up. Well, until next year anyway.

It's known that sales figures have been disappointing to put it mildly for the wave of tablet computers launched to rival the iPad.

Prices have already been cut and DigiTimes is reporting that prices will be slashed again later this year.

HP has cut $100 from the cost of its TouchPad, bringing it below the iPad price. And Motorola's 32GB Xoom is now priced the same as a 16GB iPad.

DigiTimes reports that its sources say two more industry-wide price cuts are expected - in September and in the run-up to Christmas. Basically, stock needs to be cleared to give manufactures another chance to release iPad-killers next year.
