Wow! Google Facing $2.5bn Break-Up Fee If Motorola Deal Fails

We all know Google is in the process of buying Motorola Mobility for $12.5bn. Bloomberg now says that the search giant will have to hand over $2.5bn to Motorola - even if the deal fails to go through.

It's called the break-up fee and it's thought to be the biggest ever.

Don't forget, the deal isn't signed and sealed. It still has to get US government approval. It probably will, but many are getting increasingly edgy about Google's growth and power.

If Motorola decided to pull out, it would have to pay Google a more affordable fee of $375m.
