Apple iPod Classic Set For Chop?

There's more evidence that Apple is set to discontinue the iPod Classic.

A section of the iTunes App Store devoted to click-wheel games for the device has disappeared fuelling speculation that the music machine, which first went on sale 10 years ago, is to be dropped.

It's reported the move will be made at Apple's media event on Tuesday where the next-generation iPhone is expected to be launched, along with iOS5 and iCloud...and possibly a new iPod Touch model.

The iPod Classic revolutionised mobile music when it was launched and has gone through six updates.  It's advertising tag was "1,000 songs in your pocket" and the first model had what then was a massive 5GB storage.  The current model has 160GB.

Speculation about its death began at last year's Apple iPod media event when no update for the Classic was announced.
