iPhone 5 Release "Confirmed" For October

It seems former US Vice President and Apple Board member, Al Gore, has confirmed the iPhone 5 will be released in October.

That's according to a tweet from the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit, where Mr Gore was speaking.

All Apple has said officially so far is iOS5 will be out in the autumn and we're all presuming that it will coincide with the launch of the next generation iPhone, probably along with a budget version of the current iPhone 4 and a new white model of the iPod Touch.

There's increasing speculation that Apple will be holding a media event on Tuesday, October 4 and it's likely to include release dates for iOS5 and the new iPhones.
