Nokia Bets Its Future On Two New Windows Smartphones

The once-all-powerful Nokia mobile phone company has announced two new smartphones, with its entire future resting on their success.

Both the Lumia 800 and the Lumia 710 are the result of Nokia's new partnership with Microsoft and run on the latest version of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.

There are other signs that Nokia is trying to drag itself into the 21st Century. The new touchscreen smartphones come in a range of bright colours and will be on sale very soon...sometime in November.  In the past you'd be lucky if you could buy a new Nokia device within a year of its announcement.
Nokia is also hoping to make its mark in the cut-throat smartphone market with free services, like turn-by-turn navigation, music streaming and social network integration.

Both models are powered by a 1.4GHz processor. The 800 has an 8 megapixel camera and the 710 has a smaller screen and a 5 megapixel snapper.

As for the all-important pricing. Well, nothing is confirmed. But it looks like the higher-speced Lumia 800 will cost about £400 - less than the iPhone but more expensive than most mid-range Android smartphones. The 710's price is likely to be £250-300.
