The landmark feature of the iPhone 4S is voice assistant Siri. It's a feature Apple has kept specifically for the new-generation device.
But hackers have now got it working on the iPhone 4. The porting was done some time ago and the major step forward is the ported app is now fully functioning and communicating with Apple servers, which Siri needs to work properly.
But...and it's a big but...the porting uses copied Apple coding. Apple doesn't like that and may take action and, more to the point, the hackers don't want to break the rules by making the porting, including the copied code, available for all as, say, a Cydia download.
(Another..but) you can be sure others won't mind angering Apple and somehow make the transporting of Siri to the iPhone 4 fairly freely available.
