Barclays Bank Takes On PayPal With Mobile Money Transfers

UK bank, Barclays, has launched Pingit which lets you transfer money between accounts using mobile phone numbers.

You have to download an app for iOS, Android or Blackberry, and register your mobile number and account.

You can then send money to another registered user. At the moment, non-Barclays account holders can only receive money, but will soon be able to send as well.

You're limited to a maximum of £300 per payment with a daily ceiling of £5,000.
