Apple Now Telling Customers New iPad 4G Will NOT Work In Australia

Apple has gone a tiny way to making sure customers who buy the new iPad in Australia know it won't give them super-fast data speeds on 4G networks in the country.

It comes after regulators took Apple to court for "misleading" buyers into believing their devices would be 4G compatible. In fact, the device's 4G chip only works with some carriers in North America and Apple is offering a refund to any new iPad owner in Australia who wants one.

Now Apple has added a couple of lines of text in the new iPad description on its Australian website: "This product supports very fast cellular networks, It is not compatible with current Australian 4G LTE networks and WiMAX networks".

But it still describes the device as "WiFi + 4G", as it does worldwide, even though in some countries - like the UK - there are no 4G networks and no plans for a compatible 4G network.
